Chamaecyparis grows best in moist, well-drained soil. Chamaecyparis pisifera and thyoidies do best in full sun. Chamaecyparis obtusa thrives in full sun but will tolerate shade.

Unmatched color in a hardy garden conifer. Its juvenile foliage is a heathery plum color and very soft to the touch.
